Dr. Loretta Sage is a very successful author of adventure romance novels. She uses her PhD in archeology to add verisimilitude to her books. A billionaire, played by Daniel Radcliffe, discovers her books might hold the secret location of a fabulous treasure so he kidnaps Sage to help him find it. Her pretty-boy cover model, feeling insecure about only being a cover model for the male hero in her books, heads out to rescue her. Meanwhile, her publishing house sends out a real pretty-boy adventurer to save her. Madcap antics mirroring her fictional books ensue.

Alan: The movie is absolutely chock full of dick jokes. They were funny but at times it seemed like they were almost going for slapstick. But the movie wasn’t clearly slapstick.

Michelle: The movie was enjoyable for what it was–a romantic comedy adventure in the spirit of Jewel of the Nile. Good acting, interesting characters, plot keeps moving along with no dull, boring spots.

Alan: And there were some genuine surprises. I think Brad Pitt kind of stole the show.

Michelle: The Lost City is a fun, light movie that is entertaining the whole way through. Nothing too deep, but also nothing dull.

Alan: This was a pretty good movie. It was a pretty good comedy and a pretty good adventure, but it seemed to have trouble committing to either. I think that lack of focus hurts it, but I still enjoyed it. I’m giving it four stars.

Michelle: This is a fine movie that doesn’t pretend to be anything other than some good, old-fashioned entertainment. Four stars.
